4th Call for applications:
“Contexts and opportunities for women’s entrepreneurship in rural areas”

The FWWBCOL Research Fund’s fourth call for applications has the following objectives: to promote projects for the generation and/or strengthening of research capacities, as well as collaborative and/or participatory research and applied research intended to study the dynamics, tensions, imaginary, relations, conflicts, challenges and opportunities for entrepreneurship led by or with the participation of women in the departments of Chocó, Valle del Cauca, Cauca and Nariño, Colombia.

How to apply?

Submissions must be made via the web platform, accessible from July 27, 2020. The required documentation must also be uploaded via the platform.

How many projects are selected?

Up to 10 research projects will be selected in the Fieldwork support modality, as follows:

Any of the categories of the Call for applications can be declared void if the proposals submitted do not comply with the quality standards established by Fundación WWB Colombia.

How much money is there for this Call?

For Fieldwork support, we have $726’000.000 to fund 10 research projects, as follows:

Four Master’s degree projects: two (2) in the participatory and/or collaborative research modality (up to COP $23,000,000 per project) and two (2) in the applied research modality (up to COP $34,000,000 per project).

Two PhD theses: one (1) in the collaborative and/or participatory research modality (up to COP $45,000,000 per project) and one (1) in the applied research modality (up to COP $67,000,000 per project)

Four National or foreign research group projects: two (2) in the participatory and/or collaborative research modality (up to COP $100,000,000 per project), and two (2) in the applied research modality (up to COP $150,000,000 per project), equivalent to up to 80% of the total project amount. The remaining 20% must be covered by the executing agency as a counterpart.

Which themes are covered in the Call?

The Fund’s fourth Call for applications covers the following research subfields:

  • – COVID-19, actions for recovery and prevention.
  • – Family and rurality.
  • – Role of rural women in production chains.
  • – Rural contexts for enterprise development with women’s participation and/or leadership.
  • – Women and migration to/from/to rural areas: labor markets, representations and policies.
  • – Challenges to women’s equal participation in the economic system.
  • – Health and education for rural women.
  • – Women’s agency in rural contexts: spaces of dispute for the exercise of power.
  • – Rural women’s financial capabilities.

Call dates

Master’s and PhD researchers and research groups interested in applying to this Call should comply with the following schedule:

Submission of the proposal:
– July 27 to September 10, 2020 for master’s and doctoral students
– July 27 to September 30, 2020 for research groups

Publication of results:
– October 1, 2020 for master’s and doctoral students
– October 9, 2020 for research groups
